Production up at America's Last Producing Sparkler Plant
(Youngstown, OH) - Production is up over 30% at the last producing sparkler manufacturing facility in the United States as the demand for sparklers increases with the renewed spirit of patriotism being experienced in America.
The Diamond Sparkler Manufacturing Co., Inc. of Youngstown, Ohio produces in excess of three million sparklers annually according to John Reiss, Diamond Plant Manager. "Orders are up, and as a result, we have increased our output over last year and have been able to employ more people in our production facility," Reiss stated.
Youngstown, located in the rust belt of the midwest, is quint essential America and the perfect place to find the last plant producing an item so much a part of the celebration of freedom and independence. The company was originally established in Chicago in 1922 as the Acme Sparkler Company. Purchased by Phantom Fireworks owner Bruce J. Zoldan, Acme was relocated to Youngstown in 1985 and renamed Diamond.
"It's hard to believe that there is only one left in this country producing something so closely associated with America's Independence Day," said Zoldan. "People don't understand that if you are not using a Diamond sparkler, you are celebrating July 4th with foreign made products."
Phantom Fireworks sells some 6,600,000 Diamond Sparklers annually through its own retail showrooms and through such national retail chain stores as K-Mart, Rite Aid, Nash Finch, Eckert's Drugs, Harry Products, Fox Markets, Fleming Companies, Rose Stores and Maxway.
