Dreidel - How to Play Dreidel
Dreidel A spinning four-sided top inscribed with Hebrew letters on each side. Players are given a set portion of coins or candy. Before each player spins, they place an amount of their coins or candy into the ‘kupah’ or kitty. Each player spins the dreidel, falling on one of four letters (symbols). The spins result in one of the following:
Nun - don’t win or lose
Gimmel - take all of the kupah
Heh - take half of the kupah
Peh - lose what you wagered
Players are eliminated when they lose all of their funds, and the game is over when one person has all of the winnings or players agree to stop.
Lyrics for Dreidel
I have a little dreidel
I made it out of clay
And when it's dry and ready
Then dreidel I shall play
CHORUS
Oh dreidel dreidel dreidel
I made it out of clay
And when it's dry and ready
Then dreidel I shall play
It has a lovely body
With legs so short and thin
And when it is so tired
It drops and then I win!
CHORUS
My dreidel's always playful
It loves to dance and spin
A happy game of dreidel
Come play now, let's begin!
CHORUS
